Zoey and VIolet at the park

Karen exited the hotel lobby and began her stroll to the park a few blocks away. She had her camera with her but she didn't find anything interesting to shoot with it yet. It was late already and the sun shone brightly- not too ideal for good photography, but she couldn't help waking up late due to jet lag. Soon at the park she found a small croud lining up at an ice cream booth. While she wanted to take a shot at the lovely people, she couldn't find a good subject that stands out. Just then she sees a peculiar girl amongst the crowd. the girl wore a short blue skirt and a cute black top. Indeed, she was pretty but what was most striking was that she only had one leg. Furthermore there was no crutch in sight! Had she been hopping all along? After the one legged girl took off with two ice cream, she decided to follow her, curious to see if she can take a souvinieer photo of her with the beautiful park in the back ground. 

The late morning sun peaked through tiny gaps in the canopy and shone at Violets face. She sat, almost motionless, staring admiringly at the sparrows perched on tiny branches just a few feet directly above her. The birds also occasionally chirp at each other, and at times stare at her intently as if she was a worm waiting to be their next meal. She thought it would be a shame it they shit on her face. She giggled at the thought but realized that it was bound to happen if she remained there long enough. having no physical means to move to a different bench, she looked around for her her friend, Zoey, who took longer to return than expected. She sighed and carefully shuffled her bottom, inching herself away from the bright sun beam that was irritating her eyes. In doing so, she was cautious not to lean too far or she would certainly topple over. Once again, she sat quietly and studied her feathered companions still populating the shady branches atop her. Suddenly the birds flapped away, seemingly disturbed by the arrival of another creature in the vicinity. As expected, it was Zoey. She made tapping noise as she happily hopped her way towards her friend eagerly eyeing the frosty treats she held in both hands.

"What took you so long?" Violet inquired as her friend settled down beside her. "Oh, there were many people lined up before I arrived at the ice cream booth" She explained, "I should've brought my crutches, Ow my leg hurts from standing too long!" Violet nodded and gave her an I-told-you-so look. "You managed to not fall over, huh?" Zoey teased "Yeah, Barely. I moved a few inches so the birds don't poop on me!" Raising both ice cream, Zoey extended her arm so her limbless friend can have a lick at it. "Vanilla and strawberry, Like it?" She inquired. Taking another assuring slurp, Violet licked her lip and nodded happily "My favorite" She affirmed. Zoey did likewise and they spent the next few minutes just enjoying the ice cream and the birds. At one point Zoey playfully held the icecream further so that her oblivious friend had to lean forward to reach it, unaware that she is being teased. In the process she almost falls forward but noticing that her friend is giggling she quickly leaned back to regain balance and gave her a threatening frown. "Sorry" Zoey gave her a guilty smile. Just then both girls heard a click. Just yards from them a cute female tourist with a camera took a photo of them. To their relief the stranger waved at them and asked if it was alright to take their picture. The two looked at each other and then gave the girl an assuring nod and smile. Violet shrugged her shoulder "I look awful in pictures" She remarked, "Not true" Zoey responded. A moment later the girl excitedly approached them. "Sorry to disturb you" He said "It's not everyday that I find two beautiful young girls in such a peaceful place" The two girls smiled back and inquired if they can see their picture, The young tourist obliged and soon the trio became friends and ended up chatting for an hour, during which the girl introduced herself as an aspiring photographer who travels to capture pictures of interesting people. At one point they decided to buy another batch of ice cream. This time Karen insisted that Zoey stays with Violet. "Please, keep watch of violet" she pleaded. The limbless girl giggled "Don't worry about me, miss" She assured. "I'm pretty good at sitting still" the tourist looked at Zoey questioningly. "Yup, and rest assured, she will stay exactly where she is" Zoey affirmed. "Besides, you'll need a help bringing three cones here, and I can lend you a hand since I only use one crutch" reluctantly the Karen agreed "But let's not be away too long, ok?" She looks at the limbless girl "Please stay safe, Dear" With that, the two headed out, leaving Violet, once again, alone with her feathered companions. 


Oh well, the month of October had been terribly busy month for me. I barely have time to draw commissions but I did spend my extra time at the office reading art tutorials instead and drawing on paper. Also, I am running a small business part time so that I am usually spent when I arrive home. Still, drawing is my ultimate stress reliever and I don't know how I would've made it through the month with minimal stress had I not drawn from time to time.

Anyway, forgive my bad writing, it's the best my vocabulary and grammar could muster. This is my first art work with no line work, though I made two previous attempts, I think I finally got it this time. Surely, I will keep on learning composition and color theory as I have miles to go in terms of artistic development. Sorry for this very long text, and thank you for reading all the way! XD
